Fish Nets – abstract I

At the Tallheo Cannery, I was drawn to the net loft where fish nets were hung to dry thirty years ago when the cannery closed. They have never been touched since. Some lie in heaps on the floor. The ropes holding them have broken from old age. Out of respect, owners Garrett Newkirk and Skye Phillips have left them where they fell. The nets are dyed different colours, to blend in with the colour of the sea at different depths. I made this abstract to portray the nets as ghosts of a bygone fishery.
