Every time I paddle solo around the Bowron Lake Canoe circuit, I experience a sense of freedom. It usually takes a day or two to leave office thoughts behind and to overcome any feelings of loneliness. After that, the land begins to shape my thoughts. I develop an acute awareness of the water around my canoe. The act of each stroke becomes a part of who I am. Eventually, there is a rhythm in all that I do and think. I travel through this rhythm, freely, peacefully, and in harmony with the natural world around me. The journey is meaningful. Isaac Lake, Bowron Lake Park.
