One of my main challenges as a photographer is to find simple compositions within the vast intricacies of nature. In this image, the sandbar provides a single line, which creates two rectangular shapes of misty space. The sun and its reflection (circles), together with the long bowl of the canoe, create an implied or imaginary triangle within the image space. All these together – the juxtaposed dance of lines, rectangles, circles, and triangles – create a simple composition out of a complex, ever changing day. Sandy Lake, Bowron Lake Park.
